Whether you are newly diagnosed with diabetes or have had diabetes for some time, managing diabetes can improve symptoms, prevent complications, and improve your quality of life and health outcomes. As a registered dietitian nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator, I am specially trained to help! Diabetes management focuses on the 7 habits identified by the American Association of Diabetes Educators to give you optimal control of diabetes:
I work with you to individualize your diabetes management plan to fit your lifestyle and coordinate with your physician's treatment plan.
High cholesterol, high triglycerides, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, heart disease, kidney disease, and many other conditions are all effected by healthy eating and lifestyle habits. As a registered dietitian nutritionist, I can help you get better control of these conditions by learning and adopting the most current evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle.
Whether you need to lose a little or a lot of weight, my program for weight management is individualized specifically for you and your lifestyle. There are no gimmicks, no fad diets, and no special products to buy. I meet you where you are in your weight loss journey with sound nutrition and lifestyle changes that will help you lose weight and keep it off.
If you are planning weight loss surgery, I can complete your initial nutrition assessment and provide meal plans for each stage of the weight loss surgery process. Have you had weight loss surgery and you're not satisfied with your progress? Have you gained back the weight you lost and more? I can help you identify and improve your lifestyle to get back on track with weight loss.
My training as a dietitian/nutritionist and as a licensed professional counselor can help you get to the heart of what drives the disordered eating habits you struggle with. I will work in conjunction with your physician, counselor or psychologist to help develop a healthy eating plan to get you back to health.
Many health insurance policies cover nutrition counseling, called Medical Nutrition Therapy, including Medicare. I will verify your coverage. If you have met your deductible, I will file with your with insurance. You are responsible to pay the co-pay or co-insurance required by your health insurance policy at the time of your appointment. If you have not met your deductible or are out of network, you will be responsible for the charge of the visit, which I will file with your insurance plan. You may want to check with your insurance about your Medical Nutritional Therapy benefit. I am currently in network with:
Medicare of Texas
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas
No health insurance? No problem! I offer a flat fee for self-pay clients. We can discuss fees when we schedule your appointment.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I will work with you to address your mental, emotional, behavioral and spiritual challenges.
Most health insurance policies cover mental health counseling. As mentioned above I will verify your coverage. If you have met your deductible, I will file with your with insurance. You are responsible to pay the co-pay or co-insurance required by your health insurance policy at the time of your appointment. If you have not met your deductible or are out of network, you will be responsible for the charge of the visit, which I will file with your insurance plan. If you prefer, you can also self-pay for counseling services.
Medical Nutrition Therapy can help get your patients better control of chronic health conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, obesity, heart disease and many others. With managed care holding you accountable for patient outcomes like Hemoglobin A1c, getting patients to health care goals can improve your reimbursement and your bottom line. I take the time to teach, counsel, and coach your patients using evidence-based nutrition care plans. I provide you with a detailed document for your electronic medical record. I also verify insurance benefits for patients before they schedule, so patients whether the service will be covered and what their co-pay and/or out-of-pocket expense will be. I currently accept all major health care plans, including Medicare. Please note that Medicaid does not cover Medical Nutrition Therapy.
In addition, most mental health disorders are diagnosed and managed in the Primary Care setting. Providing counseling services in your office setting helps address mental health challenges from which your patients suffer. Counseling plus medication has been proven in the treatment of depression. I can provide counseling services to your patients.
Patients are more likely to attend appointments in the comfort and familiarity of your practice setting, especially if scheduled on the same day that you see them. I can come to your office setting and see patients in exam rooms that are available or any other office space. Depending on your referral needs, I can schedule weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or less frequent days scheduled at your clinic.
If exam room space is tight or your patient's need an evening or Saturday appointment, patients can come to my office space located in Fort Worth conveniently located off of Camp Bowie Blvd, just South of I-30:

With over 30 years of experience as a dietitian/nutritionist and diabetes educator, I am passionate about helping people achieve optimal health and chronic disease management through healthy lifestyle habits like good nutrition, exercise, and stress management. I received my Bachelor's degree at Oklahoma State University in Food and Nutrition, and completed a dietetic internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. I have been Board Certified in Diabetes Education since 1997 and have a special passion for working with people with diabetes to help them manage this serious disease. I also have experience with bariatrics, weight management, eating disorders, chronic disease management, and lifestyle coaching.
Midway through my career, I realized that I needed more tools to address the underlying emotional, psychological, and spiritual issues that impact health and pursued a counseling degree. I received my Master's in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary and completed a counseling internship at the Pastoral Counseling Education Center in Dallas, TX. I believe that my counseling training has made me a more effective and empathetic dietitian. In addition, I have received advanced training in Motivational Interviewing and have certificates in Adult Weight Management, Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease, and as a Lifestyle Coach.
I live in Fort Worth and enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, cycling, walking and working in my native perennial pollinator garden. I enjoy going to the gym, spending time with friends and family, and am active in my neighborhood association and in the community. I also support many of the arts here in Fort Worth. I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your healthy lifestyle goals!
